Vaiko in the eye of TN electoral storm

Vaiko in the eye of TN electoral storm

By M Rama Rao - Reporting for Asian Tribune from New Delhi

New Delhi, 15 February (Asiantribune.com ): Vaiko, the MDMK chief, is the toast of Tamil Nadu politics, in a manner of speaking with assembly elections slated for April-May. What his new move will be?

The latest buzz on him is that he may walk out of the DMK led DPA ( the Tamil Nadu specific seven party Democratic Progressive Alliance) while remaining a part of the Congress led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Delhi.

Vaiko is not available immediately for his reaction but sources acquainted with him and familiar with his brand of politics said that he told Manmohan Singh that he would be with the UPA but would bow out of DPA.

He is known to be not happy with his friends in the DMK. Like the PMK's Ramadoss. Both of them are peeved at what they term as 'raw deal' meted out to them by their Dravidian Big brother DMK led by aging script writer of silver screen, Muthavel Karunanidhi.

Vaiko in the eye of TN electoral storm
Vaiko often describes his MDMK as the 'O positive' blood group. Any medical practioners tells you that any person with 'O positive' is a universal blood donor. This remark has let tongues wagging whether he would like MDMK to ally with any party at any given time.

Vaiko's party was aligned with the BJP, which was with tied-up with AIADMK but just before the 2004 Lok Sabha elections. That tie up did not save him from the infamous anti-terror laws. When AIADMK supremo and chief minister Jayalalithaa put him in jail for his pro-LTTE statements for close to 19-months, the BJP remained helpless. He moved over to the DMK fold.

Now the talk is AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa wants him back as her ally.
looks like O-positive blood is a common characteristic of Dravidian parties, whether be in India, Sri Lanka or elsewhere...

just see the brazenness with which Mercedes Benz Thondaman's CWC aligns itself with the PA!! simply yucky! :x

P.S. i wonder what VP's feeling towards Thonda will be for identifying himself with MR's one-nation standpoint!
