New Delhi, 03March (Asiantribune.com): As usual, the race for the top honour will be a two-legged race between Jayalaithaa Jayaram, the All India Anna DMK chief, who is seeking a renewed mandate for five years on the strength of her progress card in office, and Muthavel Karunanidhi, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, DMK, patriarch, who is determined to take revenge on his betenoire and be the chief executive of the state for one time more.
All other parties in the fray are by and large fringe players and are aligned with either of the two main protagonists. While the Sonia Congress and the main Left parties are aligned with the DMK, the main national opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is not courted and hence is alone as of now. Most other local parties are with either of the main camps.
