By Iqbal Hussain Khan Yousafzai – Reporting from Islamabad
Islamabad, 19 April, (Asiantribune.com): Pakistan has beefed up security along its north-western border to stop any suspected militants from crossing into the country as they retreat from a major offensive by US and Afghan forces in eastern Afghanistan.
Pakistan deployed troops to “seal” the border in Bajaur and the nearby area of Dir because of the operation on the Afghan side, a Pakistan army official said. “The deployment is aimed to “stop the infiltration of miscreants” from Afghanistan,” he said.
Meanwhile, Pakistani security forces arrested three foreigners believed to be the activists of al-Qaeda organisation, most wanted to Pakistani and American governments at the Zangali checkpost. The foreigners were later shifted to an unidentified place for investigation.
