Sri Lanka's new, UNP led” Democratic People's Alliance" coalition coming for "elections"

Colombo, 16 December, (Asiantribune.com):

Sri Lan In the aftermath of Ranil Wickremesinghe's return as PM, work on forming a new broad political coalition led by the UNP is gathering pace, said political sources in Colombo.

Likely to be called as the "Democratic People's Alliance" (DPA) the coalition will be led by the UNP and will include minority parties such as JHU, ACMC, TPA and SLMC as well as groups led by Rajitha Senaratne and Arjuma Ranathunga.

The proposed symbol for the DPA is the "Diamond" sources said.

Prime Minister Wickremesinghe also held a meeting for party seniors at Temple Trees, immediately after he took oaths on December 16 (today) morning and asked them to prepare for an "election" - fueling further speculation of the DPA's arrival. Wickremesinghe did not specify as to what 'Elections' he was referring to.

A Leadership Council for the new Democratic People's Alliance has already been set up and the Council is now 'very busy' drawing up its future plans, sources added.

A group of SLFP supporters close to Chandrika Cumaranatunga too are likely to join-and the Marxist JVP party too is to be invited according these sources.
