Colombo, 06 December, (Asiantribune.com):

Sri Lanka's deposed ruling party the UNP said that the country is now under a dictatorship.

UNP led by the deposed PM Ranil Wickremesinghe announced this in its official twitter feed @officialunp today 5 December.

"On Monday (3) the Court of Appeal suspended Mahinda Rajapaksa and the purported government. The President has refused to appoint a government who commands a majority in Parliament. Sri Lanka is effectively under a dictatorship of Maithripala Sirisena" said @officialunp twitter.

Adding a Sinhala language message it said: "Since the President failed to failed to establish a government through the majority, bringing anarchy to the country."

Sri Lanka President Sirisena should call Presidential Elections

President Sirisena has cheated 6.2 million Lankan voters and it is time he should call for Presidential elections, said Former Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka (MP-Jathika Hela Urumaya) on 4 December in Galle.

Ranawaka MP was addressing a public rally in Galle. "Our tourism and economy collapsed. The Rajapaksa camp has indebted the country. Therefore, we shall return to power-we fight to preserve democracy, freedom and justice. We will not lose this and we like to announce to PM Mahinda that we will win" said Ranawaka MP.

"We can play any games you play too. We showed Rajapaksa how to win the war. Therefore, we know the way forward. We call for a Presidential Election and we challenge President Sirisena to call it on January 9. Our candidates are ready. We are always prepared for any election under a government that is legal, and an Election Commission that is just and fair. Under such conditions, we are ready to face not once but even ten times" said Ranawaka MP.
