The Congress party came down heavily on the BJP Government at the Center for their lack of sincerity and seriousness on resolving the longstanding Naga political issue.

Addressing a press conference here at the Congress Bhavan on Friday, AICC Secretary Pradyut Bordoloi, who is also in-charge of Nagaland, while replying on the statement of BJP National Secretary Ram Madhav that the Center-Naga talks was an advanced stage and coming for an early solution, said that the BJP Government under Prime Ministership Narendra Modi would not give “any solution” to the Naga political issue before 2019.

He said, “Initially, we hoped that solution to the Naga issue comes out soon” but soon it turned out be their (BJP Government) “habits” to continue to give hopes. The manner in which the Center dealing with the Naga Political Groups in talks was like dangling a lollipop from their necks, he stated adding, “But they will never let you eat it.”

Stating that the Center would continue to drag on the issue, Bordoloi said they would continue to bluff and betray the people of Nagaland on the longstanding Naga political issue.

When asked as to why the 10-year Congress regime at the Center did not try to resolve the issue, Bordoloi said the Congress put their best by having a series of consultations with all the stakeholders.

“It was initiated with a lot of sincerity during the Congress regimes. Yes, we went out of power and probably, we could not live up to the logical conclusion,” he said. “That is why have been cooperating with the BJP Government at the Center to see that the process reach a logical conclusion.”

But today, the AICC Secretary pointed out, the 2019 Lok Sabha Election was coming and now, they were realizing that the BJP Government at the Center “is not sincere” towards resolving the Naga political issue.

He further asked what was going on with the “Framework Agreement” that they signed with the NSCN (IM) on August 3, 2015 at the residence of Modi in Delhi. “Does anybody know what the Framework Agreement is?” he asked and further said it clearly showed that Modi lacked sincerity to the process.

Luizinho Faleiro ex-CM of Goa and AICC General Secretary in-charge of North Eastern States excluding Assam, NPCC President K Therie and NPCC General Secretary Capt GK Zhimomi also joined the press conference.
