Masthan Removed Of Hindu Religious Affairs: Ranjith Aluwihare continues State Minister for Christian Affairs

Colombo, 17 June, (Asiantribune.com):

President Maithipala Srisena removed Kader Masthan's deputy ministerial post Hindu Religious Affairs, but Ranjith Aluwihare, continues as the State Minister for Christian Affairs.

The Deputy Minister portfolio of Kader Masthan has been gazetted without any mention of Hindu Religious Affairs.

Masthan, a member of the SLFP. was earlier given the position of Deputy Minister of Resettlement, Rehabilitation, Northern Development and Hindu Religious Affairs.

It is learnt that in the face of heavy pressure, President Maithripala Sirisena has taken measures to gazette his position sans the portfolio on Hindu Religious Affairs.

However, the devout Buddhist Ranjith Aluwihare, who hails from a staunch Buddhist family and is a custodian of Aluwihare Buddhist temple in Matale continues to be the State Minister for Tourism Development and Christian Religious Affairs.
