Court rejected bail to 38 residents of Thunnalai villagers

Point Pedro, 11 September, (Asian Tribune.com):

The remand of the arrested 38 Thunnalai and Kudawattai residents has been further extended up to 22nd of this month.

The cases against those arrested 38 residents were taken up on 8th at the Point Pedro Magistrate courts and Nalini Kandasamy, Magistrate rejected the bail plea of those accused.

These 38 residents of Thunnalai East and Kudawattai villagers were arrested and remanded after the 8 July incident, in which the police fired at a truck which was transporting sand illegally from Manalkadu, and one 25 year old Yogarajah Dinesh was shot and killed by the police.

Subsequent to the shooting incident Police arrested 38 residents of Thunnalai East and Kudawattai villages in the Nelliady and Point Pedro police areas.
