LTTE attack on the air force base continues

Colombo,22 October, (Asiantribune.com): Reports reveal that a small group LTTE cadres have infiltrated the air force base at Anuradhapura and launched the initial attack around 3 AM early morning today.

Reports further revealed that a LTTE plane bombed the Sri Lanka Air force base in Anuradhapura, located 210km (130 miles) north of the capital Colombo,at about 4 AM this morning.

Military Spokeperson Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said small group of LTTE armed cadres have infiltrated and attacking Anuradapua Air Force

He added that a small group of LTTE cadres invaded the air base from the ground, Soon after, a rebel plane dropped two bombs on the base, he said.

"We have no details of any casualties," said Military Spokeperson Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara.

Civilians around the vicinity of the air force base when contacted said that they heard explosions as well as the sound of LTTE plane arrival without any lights and drop bombs to Air Force base.

According to report, the ground attack is still going on.
