State BJP Gen Secy lash out his President for volte face

By Oken Jeet Sandham – Asian Tribune

Kohima, 07 October, (Asiantribune.com): : State BJP General Secretary Eduzu Th Vadeo has strongly reacted State BJP President Ato Yepthomi’s disowning the Press Statement issued on Thursday, saying that he was only issuing the Press Statement as per his directives.

Terming as “very unfortunate” the State BJP President’s volte face to his own directives, the State BJP General Secretary said he still stood by his Press Statement which was done as per the directives of his President following the Party Office Bearers’ Meeting held at Dimapur on October 2, 2007. In the meeting, 7 State office bearers were present out of 11 State office bearers, he added.

Video reiterated that he was directed to give a Press Release regarding the failure of law and order, corruptions, illegal taxation, etc in the State by his President. He even said Yepthomi directed him to also include in the Press Release about the non-functioning of the State Government. “But I deleted this portion because I was not so sure whether it is due to lack of fund or ignorance, though the President directly criticized me,” he pointed out.

He also stated that terming his statement as “most ignorant and irresponsible” did not arise as it was the party decision and “I did not issue any Press Statement in my individual capacity by using party designation.”

It may be mentioned that earlier on Thursday, BJP State general secretary Eduzu Th Vadeo said the BJP State Office Bearers had in their meeting on 2nd October, 2007 expressed unhappiness on the State Government’s “miserable failure” in maintaining law and order in the State. There had been on the rise in the incidence of killing, extortion, looting and illegal taxation. But the Government had justified its “inability and helplessness” by terming it as “political problem and not a law and order problem.”

He even said the prevailing lawlessness in the State showed clearly the breakdown of government machinery, urging the concerned Minister to resign from his position on moral ground for his inability to contain the spurt of violence in the State. “If he does not resign, the State Governor should immediately intervene in it,” it added.
