FCCISL hosts Indian and Chinese trade delegations

Colombo, 21 July, (Asiantribune.com): A 50 member strong Indian Trade Delegation led by S S Patel, President, Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry FKCCI) to meet their counterpart in Sri Lanka – The Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL). The discussions between FKCCI and FCCISL would centre on by-lateral trade, investment and joint venture.

The delegation would include members of the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Karnataka, Consortium of Electronic Industries of Karnataka, Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs of Hyderabad, along with representatives of ZDB/SEQUA Partnership Programme, India.

Their visit to Colombo would also coincide with the Summer Fair - SAARC Women’s Biz that would be held from 20th to 22 July at the Colombo International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Many of these delegates will maintain Trade stalls at the “SAARC Biz” section in the Summer Fair, conducted by the Sri Lanka Women Chamber of Industries & Commerce headed by its Chairperson Ramya Weerakoon.

Hildon U Hamangoda, Director, SAARC & International Affairs, FCCISL said that the Indian delegation would be meeting them and the FCCISL would provide information to any entrepreneur who wishes to have contacts with the delegation.

Hamangoda said that a Chinese Trade delegation is consisting of Chinese Government Officials and representatives of the Chinese business community from the China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) of Shanghai. (Trading arm of the Chinese Government) is also expected in the country on 25th July .

Their visit is intended to strengthen the business links and ties between Sri Lanka and China and to find out the possibilities of expanding the already existing trade links between the two countries.

The Chinese delegation is expected to hold official discussion withFederation of Chambers of Commerce - FCCISL in a special meeting on 25th July and also would be meeting Dr Sarath Amunugama, Minister of Enterprises Development and Investment Promotion. And BOI officials later on. The FCCISL will coordinate the CCPIT programme in Sri Lanka, jointly with BOI and the Sri Lanka Foreign Ministry.
