Mavai Senathirajah Vs. .C.V Vigneswaran = TNA Chief Minister Candidate?

Colombo, 13 July, (Asiantribune.com):

Tamil National Alliance has still not reached an agreement over their Chief Minister candidate. Mavai Senathirajah has indicated that he is not going to relent from contesting even in the interest of Tamil community.

On the other hand, TNA leader R.Sampanthan and Parliamentarian MA Sumanthiran were adamant yesterday that the Retired Supreme Court Justice C.V.Vigneswaran must be the common candidate of the TNA.

So far no consensus has been arrived.

Yesterday, the newly formed supreme council of the TNA met in Colombo to discuss about the chief minister candidate.

Meeting ended without reaching at any agreement. Mavai Senathirajah, though he is a member of parliament for 24 years, but he is a man without any administrative experience and he was on the fray against Retd. Justice Vigneswaran.

In the interest of the Tamil community he was not prepared to give up his challenge for nomination when Sampanthan insisted on a common candidate.

The meeting was postponed for today to consider the chief minister candidate.

The in-fight exposes the true colors of the TNA, a source told Asian Tribune.

The source further said that in the last local government elections, TNA won in 17 local bodies and all those local bodies are in a mess, as they all are administered by the inexperienced TNA local councilors.

He said that the same plight should not occur to the North Provincial Council too, in case an inexperienced Chief Minister takes up the reigns of the Chief Ministership.
