Advisory - Civil Security Committees for police stations

Colombo, 29 June, (Asiantribune.com):

Secretary, Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa has directed Inspector General of Police to appoint Advisory Committees and Civil Security Committees covering all police stations in the Island with immediate effect.

"A decision was taken to formulate a proper system in crime prevention this year and the prevailing system would be stream lined with a view of increasing the speed of solving such cases in 60 percent". Said IGP NK Illangakoon at a function held to appreciate and reward the Police Officers for rendering a dedicated service at Colombo Crime Division day before yesterday (27th June).

As an appreciation, 262 law enforcement officers and 18 civilian informants were rewarded with Rs 6358500.00 at the ceremony

He said that, "In this process of providing an efficient service to the public, instant copies for complaints logged with regard to the losses of identity cards, driving licenses and passports will be delivered".

He also mentioned that, "effectiveness of the traffic police service was drastically improved by doubling-up the gift sum of the field officers". "The mission of this year is to eliminate illegal drugs and narcotics accelerating raids on illicit liquor dens and drug dealers" he added.
