BREAKING NEWS: French Police raid Tamil Tiger offices in Paris: 17 Tigers including Paris head Parithy arrested

Paris, 02 April, (Asiantribune.com): The LTTE office in Paris, the Paris office of the Tamil Rehabilitation Organization, TTN Television station and the Hindu Temple – Amman Kovil run by the Tigers in Paris were closed down yesterday and sealed by the police. Yesterday morning French police simultaneously raided all these four LTTE establishments in Paris. They entered the premises and went through the LTTE computers, files and other documents in those establishments very minutely. While the police raid was on, no one was allowed to enter or leave those premises.

When this news broke Tamil diaspora in Paris refused to believe it. They thought this wan an April Fools’ Day joke. They asked how TTN TV could function when TTN was closed down. They were also baffled by TV program of the TTN that were going on air. Later they learnt that it was no April Fools day joke.

Last year LTTE collected Euro 6 millions from the Tamil diaspora in France. Police are now investigating how this money was spent.

It is learnt that the raid was conducted by the Anti- Terrorist division (Sous-direction antiterroriste - SDAT) of the French Interior Ministry.

During the raid SADAT officials confiscated computers, files and other found in the LTTE office in Paris, Tamil Coordinating Committee, "Comité de coordination tamoule France", l situé 341 rue des Pyrénées.
