Sri Lanka: Seylan Bank launched Seylan Visa Platimum Card and Visa Debit Gold Card

Colombo, 20 January, ( am a very fortunate man as I have a wonderful set of people at the Seylan Bank and we have the honor of issuing the first Credit Card in Sri Lanka, said Dr Lalith Kotalawala, Chairman, Ceylinco Consolidated at the occasion of the launch of the Seylan Visa Platimum Card and Visa Debit Gold Card last week at Raja Bojun.

He said that 2006 was a very good year for them and said that the way they were going they would make a tremendous impact on Sri Lanka’s economy. He said they have floated the first foreign remittances company and the remittances would become the number one export earner and quipped “We are at the right place, at the right time with the right people”.

The Seylan Visa Platinum Card introduced to the Seylan card family are for an exclusive segment of customers with Credit limits exceeding Rs 750,000 and the Platinum Credit Cardholders are entitled to many offers and value additions such as a free Travel Insurance etc.

Seylan Ban with over one million accounts was the first to introduce the Visa Electron Debit Card in Sri Lanka in March 2001. It was offered over the counter in January 2004 setting another innovation which proved to be a huge success. Over the counter service is exclusively available for both Debit and Credit Card Holders at all Seylan Bank Branches Island wide. Seylan Card Centre has issued over 500,000 Visa cards to date.
