Commencement of staff level talks between Pakistani and Sri Lankan armed forces

A high powered defence delegation from Pakistan is currently visiting Sri Lanka to hold first formal staff level talks between Sri Lankan and Pakistani Armed Forces.

The talks are being held from 18 to 21 September 2012 at Colombo and would cover wide range of issues relating to Army, Navy and Air force.

The Pakistani delegation is led by Major General Inam Ul Haque, Director General Joint Staff Headquarters Pakistan. Other members of the delegation include senior personnel from the three services of Pakistan’s armed forces i.e.; Pakistan Army, Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Air Force.

The talks which are held in a highly congenial environment, are also attended by the Defence Advisor of Pakistan in Sri Lanka.

The commencement of Staff Level Talks between the two friendly countries will further strengthen the bonds between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Since independence, Sri Lanka and Pakistan have consistently maintained close, cordial and mutually supportive relations especially in the field of defense. Both nations have assisted each other during testing times in their histories.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka have comprehensive and mutually beneficial training collaboration for Army, Navy and Air Force. Over a period of time, a strong bond of commitment and mutual understanding has been reached between both the friendly armed forces.
