UPFA convincingly retained Subragamuwa Provincial Council

In the Subragamuwa Provincial Council election, ruling United Peoples Freedom Alliance 26 seats and thus got 2 bonus seats which amounts to a total of 28 seats.

The up country political parties intelligently came to an understanding and jointly contested
in the Ceylon Workers Congress Party tickert and won a total of 2 councilor seats.

In the Ratnapura district:

United People’s Alliance polled 274,980 votes which was 60.06 % and secured 15 seats

United National Party polled 156,440 votes which was 34.17 % and secured 8 seats

Ceylon Workers Congress polled 17,014 votes which was 3.72 % and secured 1 seat.

In the Kegalle district :

United People’s Alliance polled 213, 734 votes which was 50.08 % and secured 11 seats

United National Party polled 120, 417 votes which was 35.44 % and secured 6 seats

Ceylon Workers Congress (P.wing) polled 8,971 votes which was 2,44 % and secured 1 seat.
