Anthony Pillai Judeson,: Mannar Magistrate - Who is he?

Colombo, 05 August, (Asiantribune.com):

Rumors abound of Anthony Pillai Judeson, Mannar Magistrate, who has a spat with Minister Rishad Bathiyutheen on an issue connected with the resettlement of the Muslim IDPs.

It is widely rumored that Magistrate Judeson as one of those advocates of the LTTE bar and was working very closely with the LTTE hierarchy for a separate Tamil state.

But this was categorically denied by a senior Advocate who wishes to remain anonymous and he said Magistrate Judeson was apolitical and a down to earth a nice gentlemen.

This Senior Lawyer who practices in all the High Courts in the Northern Provinces and at present considered one of the best available criminal lawyers in the North said Judeson was a junior to Anton Panitawangale in Vavuniya.

It was pointed out that when he was practicing in the Vavuniya Courts, Magistrate Ilancheliyan took note of him and also Prabhakaran, the present Magistrate of Mullaitivu, Alex Rajah, present Magistrate at Vavuniya and Ms. Joyce Mahendran presently retired from judicial service and practicing as an Attorney – at – Law and all these 4 lawyers including Judeson were appointed as Magistrates when Sanath N.Silva was the Chief Justice.

According to interview Asian Tribune had with Magistrate Judeson who took oaths as an Attorney at Law in 2002 and was recruited in the Judicial Service as a Magistrate in 2007.
He is from Mannar and a catholic.
