Indian Minister Assures to End Infiltration of Tamil Nadu Fishermen Into Sri Lankan Waters

"A full stop will be made to the infiltration activities of Indian fishermen into the Northern sea waters of Sri Lanka", the Indian Union Minister for Commerce & Textile Industry assures Douglas Devananda - Minister for Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development and EPDP Secretary General.

An Indian delegation comprising of higher officials, businessmen, representatives from industrial sector headed by Indian Union Minister Ananda Sharma arrived in Sri Lankan on Friday morning. It is said that this delegation arrived to enhance the trade between India and Sri Lanka.

This Indian delegation met Ministers Basil Rajapakse, Douglas Devananda, Rishad Badiyudeen and Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Mr. Ashok K Kantha and held discussions.

Minister Douglas Devananda urged the delegation to take necessary measures to end the infiltration and poaching of Indian fishermen into the northern sea waters of Sri Lanka and the Indian Union Minister Ananda Sharma assured that necessary measures would be taken on this issue.
