Sri Lanka Navy intercepts three more boats on the way to Australia
Sri Lanka Navy intercepted three boats carrying Sri Lankans last night; one in Trincomalee and two in Negombo.
A total of 103 persons were arrested and handed over to police for investigations.
In the boat intercepted in Trincomalee there were 34 persons (28 Tamils and 6 Sinhalese) while in the two intercepted in Negombo were carry carrying 25 (11 Tamils, 13 Sinhalese, 1 Muslim) and 44 (24 Tamils, 16 Sinhalese, 4 Muslims) in each.
Police and CID will conduct further investigations.
The joint action by the forces, police and coast guard will continue and its success can be attributed to increase in arrests made in the recent past.
