23 Tamil Nadu fishermen remanded till 6th August
Mannar Magistrate Amirthalingham Judson yesterday remanded the 23 Tamil Nadu fishermen to the prison in Anuradhapura, till the 6th of August.
The 23 Tamil Nadu fishermen were produced before the Mannar Magistrate by the Thalaimannar Police on the charges of poaching in the Sri Lankan waters, off the coast of Thalaimannar.
On 22 July, Naval patrol craft attached to the North-central Naval Command apprehended 05 Indian trawlers with 23 Indian fishermen onboard for intruding into Sri Lankan waters off Mannar .
The apprehended boats are anchored off Thalai-mannar Naval Base and the crew was handed over to Thalaimannar Police for legal action.
