Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Deputy PrimeMinister of Japan,Katsuya Okada Visit Upper Kotmale Hydro Power Project

Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Deputy PrimeMinister of Japan, Katsuya Okada made an inspection tour at Upper Kotmale Hydro PowerProject funded by Japanese Government(05).

This will considered to be the final mega hydro power plantin the country.

The Ministry of Power and Energy said 97% of theconstruction of the hydro power plant has been completed. The power plantproject was launched in 2006 with the financial assistance of Yen 37,817million by the Japanese government. CEB is said to have spent Rs. 8,548 millionfor the project.

Japanese Deputy Prime Minister Katsuya Okada arrived in Sri Lanka on atwo day state visit on 4th May in order to improve bi-lateral ties and towitness the progress of several Japanese funded development projects.
