Rich man's name not on the list!
Top spot for the eighth straight year is held by Indian steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, 61, with 12.7 bn. Sterling Pounds in the UK rich list.
It is reported that richest people have defied the double-dip recession to become even richer over the past year, according to UK Sunday Times Rich List. It was revealed that there are 77 billionaires on the list. The Mittal family has held the number one spot in the list since 2005.
Another person who has made money from the metal industry, Arsenal share holder Alisher Usmanov, who is second behind Mittal, with 12.3 bn. Sterling Pounds.
Harry Potter creator J K Rowling’s worth has risen by 30m Sterling Pounds in the last year to 560m Sterling Pounds to occupy the 148th place on the list of 1000.
More than learning how all these people earned their wealth, which interested me most, is one of the reader’s comments in the BBC;
‘Yes, you won’t find me on the rich list, but believe me I am really rich and happy! I have clean drinking water at the turn of a tap; I have hot water for washing; I have shoes, in my kitchen there is enough food for me; my bed is soft and clean. I was taught to read and write when I was five. So, now I can effortlessly access to any book or newspaper! Most importantly I do not owe any money to anyone or any bank! Am I not rich?’
He is no doubt the richest man, being content and happy with what he has.
