Ambassador Ratnavale sworn in as High Commissioner For Seychelles

Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to South Africa Shehan Ratnavale Sri Lankan High Commissioner visited Seychelles recently and presented his Credentials to President James Alix Michel as the new High Commissioner to the Republic of Seychelles.

At the meetings with President James Michel and Foreign Minister Jean Paul Adam was also present. Foreign Minister Jean Paul Adam stressed that both countries have strong links and that already exist.

It was noted that many Sri Lankans have held and continue to hold important positions in the Seychelles’ judiciary, health and education sectors, whilst a number of others hold senior professional positions in areas such as accountancy and surveying.

At the discussion with the High Commissioner, President James Alix Michel mentioned his desire to establish close links between the Maritime Institutions of both countries.

The discussions also explored cooperation in maritime security, fisheries, tourism, education as well as the possibility of Sri Lankan companies specializing in mini-hydro power exploring opportunities in Seychelles. The intended high level visits will serve to strengthen such cooperation and with this also in mind, Sri Lanka plans to appoint an Honorary Consul in the near future.
