11 Member Delegation of Indian Parliamentarians Arrived in Colombo

Colombo, 17 April, Asiantribune.com):

Sushma_Swaraj_2.jpgOn Monday, the Indian delegation arrived in Colombo without any major representation from Tamil Nadu.

Though there are three Congress and one CPI(M) representatives from Tamil Nadu in the delegation, the absence of the two Dravidian majors have taken the sheen out of the visit.

It was earlier reported that 14 Parliamentarian plus Smt. Sushma Swaraj, the leader of the delegation would be travelling to Colombo.

Initially Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa withdrew her Rajya Sabah MP from the delegation. It was followed by DMK patriarch M.Karunanidhi withdrawing his MP from the delegation.

Yesterday morning before the departure of the delegation two more MPs deserted the Indian delegation to Sri Lanka. They are each MP from Trinamul Congress and United Janata Dal.

Therefore 11 parliamentarians including the leader of the delegation arrived in Colombo. They are expected start their visit officially from today onwards.

Tomorrow the delegation is expected to visit Mullaitivu district which was the final theatre of the war between Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam and the Sri Lankan Security Forces in 2009.
