Sri Lankan Food Festival in London
For those who fancy an authentic mouth-watering Sri Lankan meal in the United Kingdom – or even in Europe – there is an opportunity now in Central London. A unique Sri Lankan food festival is currently underway at Park Plaza Hotel in Victoria, Central London.
The chefs have especially been flown in from Sri Lanka to produce an array of gastronomic delights for the 14-day event which is open until 14 March.
The Food Festival has been jointly organized by the renowned hotel chain, the Chaaya resorts and Hotels of John Keels in Sri Lanka.
The sponsors of the event are Sri Lankan Airlines and the Sri Lankan Tourist Board, together with His Excellency Dr Chris Nonis, the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
The Food Festival was inaugurated at an exclusive party on the opening night. Asanga Amerasinghe entertained the invitees with a live demonstration of ice carving; from a massive slab, he carved a Lion’s Head.
Along with the fabulous Sri Lankan buffet, there is an assortment of arts and crafts on sale and a photographic exhibition by one of Sri Lanka’s premier photographers.
The festival ends on March 14th, according to the organizers.
