Dutch man held for child porn

A Dutch national was arrested by the police here on Saturday on the charge of making and distributing child pornography.

The cyber crime cell of the police arrested the man identified as Williams after a Germany-based Child Exploitation Online Protection Centre alerted Chennai Police Commissioner T.Rajendran through the Interpol, an official release said.

Police said Williams had been making and distributing child pornography videos after designing a site "www.rapidshare.com".

Mr M Sudhakar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Cyber Crime Cell, Central Crime Branch, said police seized from him compact discs, hard discs, a pen drive a memory card and a laptop.

Williams was produced before a local magistrate who remanded him to jail for 15 days. He was lodged in high-security Puzhal prison on the outskirts of the city.
