India has not forgotten strategic partners: Manmohan Singh
M. Rama Rao - in New Delhi
New Delhi, 12March (Asiantribune.com): "We have not forgotten our traditional and strategic partners like Russia" even relations with the United States are being strengthened", Prime Minister stated on Saturday while replying to a special debate in both houses of parliament on the India-US nuclear deal in the context of President Bush’s visit to the country.
Neither the Left nor the BJP came up with any new argument to puncture the government case on the nuke separation deal. In fact, the opening batsman from the Left, Mr Chandrappan in the Lok Sabha used the occasion to offer a perspective on American foreign policy, while Roopchand Pal was at pains to say that the Left was not holding a brief for Iran. Nilotpal Basu in the Rajya Sabha appeared concerned about nuclear free world since he said at the very outset the CPM did not have any difference with the ‘notion of separation plan’.
