Dispute resolution, spirit behind talks with India: Pakistan

By Iqbal Hussain Khan Yousafzai – Reporting from Islamabad

Islamabad, 05 April, (Asiantribune.com): Pakistan said Tuesday that the spirit behind the peace talks with India is to resolve all disputes between the two countries particularly Kashmir and has expressed optimism that there will be forward movement in the dialogue process in the right direction.

Talking to newsmen here during her weekly briefing, Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Ms. Tasneem Aslam hoped that with forward movement towards the resolution of disputes tension between the two countries will also be reduced and it will also result in reduction in arms race. However she said Pakistan's missile tests are part of maintaining minimum deterrence and balance of power which will continue.

Regarding the proposal by Kashmiri liberation leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to involve China in the settlement of Kashmir dispute, she said according to UN resolution there are only two parties to this dispute which are India and Pakistan and ultimately Kashmiris are also part of it as affected one. She said that Mirwaiz's contention to involve China may be on the ground that China is the largest and influential country in the region and it might help to move forward the dialogue process.
