New leasing scheme proposed by Budget 2017 to be implemented

The Treasury Secretary has informed secretaries of all line ministries to take necessary actions to implement all development proposals made in the Budget 2017 for each ministry. These proposals in the budget which have already been passed by parliament will be implemented through relevant ministries and their affiliated institutions.

Sri Lanka ratifies the Maritime Labour Convention

On 12 January 2016, the Government of Sri Lanka deposited with the International Labour Office, the instrument of ratification of the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC, 2006). Sri Lanka is the 81st ILO member State and the 16th Asian State to have ratified the Convention.
