Letter from America: Jewish Settler Movement

The Jewish settler movement has been growing like a cancer for decades. It is partly organic and partly inorganic, made up of Jews born inside and outside Israel, respectively. It has become a real threat to peaceful solution of the Palestinian problem.

Letter from America: My letter to Senator Pat Toomey

Senator Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania is an unabashed supporter of Israel. In his latest email to me, he wrote, "I have warned of the dangers that America and her allies face when it comes to the Islamic Republic of Iran. This is not a topic that is new to me. I have long supported the strongest possible sanctions on Iran. I wish the sanctions that have been in place had been stronger, and were begun sooner.”

Letter from America: 2016 – Will it be any different than 2015?

The year 2015 is over. It was a very messy year in the global politics. Will 2016 be plagued by the same types of violence? In a fast paced world that we live today, it is difficult to predict the future. In what follows I shall attempt to review a few cases.

China’s expulsion of French journalist underpins her repressive Uyghur policy

As I have noted a few times before China is in the denial process, very much like Myanmar. Just as in Myanmar (former Burma) the Buddhist people - from top to bottom - are in the denial of their Rohingya population (an indigenous people who has lived in the northwestern part of the country bordering Bangladesh for millennia) the same goes for China where its authorities are in the denial of the Uyghur (Uighur) people that live in their ancestral homeland of East Turkestan (now called Xinjiang province) in China's western frontier.

Letter from America: The Assassination of Alloush

Russia has done it again. This time it is in Syria. Last Friday Putin's missiles have killed the leader of the opposition fighting the regime of the mass murderer, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), a network with wide contacts inside Syria, said aircraft targeted a meeting of Jaysh al-Islam’s leadership in eastern Ghouta, killing Zahran Alloush, its head, and five other senior commanders. These latest casualties once again show that contrary to its claims, Russia is more interested in wiping out moderate opposition to Assad than going after Daesh (ISIL).

The Nihilistic Assaults on Paris

Paris on Friday (Nov. 13) night suffered a series of simultaneous assaults, which left at least 129 people dead and around 350 wounded. They included a mass shooting at a concert hall, several shootings at bars and restaurants, and several bomb detonations, including more than one near France’s national stadium, where a soccer match between the French and German national teams was in progress. It was a brutal attack intended to sow mayhem and terror.

Letter from America: When paranoia rules, everything seems so kosher!

Last Wednesday night Israeli (IDF) soldiers shot and killed a man they thought to be a terrorist in Jerusalem, after the man attacked them and tried to grab one of the weapons they were carrying.
