Bush leaves India as a friend amidst more protests
Bush leaves India as a friend amidst more protests and four deaths in police firing
By M Rama Rao - Reporting from India for Asian Tribune
New Delhi, 04 March, ( Asiantribune.com): Declaring that India and US relationship is closer than ever, President wrapped up his two-day visit to India after interacting with farmers and 'budding business tycoons' and promising to open a new consulate in Hyderabad on a day anti-Bush protests claimed four lives in police firing in Lucknow.
The highlight of his second-day in India was an address at the historic Purana (old) Qila (fort) in the heart of the Indian capital. For the first time this heritage monument, whose antiquity dates back to the Mahabharata period according to some scholars, was thrown open for a civic function as an obvious consolation to the inability of hosts to facilitate an address to the Indian Parliamentarians.
